We’re on the lookout for a Digital Marketing Expert with a strong technical background in website design, technical build, site health and website performance optimisation.</p> <p>This is a hands-on role where you will take responsibility for ensuring websites are technically sound, fast, secure, and fully optimised for digital marketing campaigns. You will work alongside our strategy and creative teams, advising on best practice, auditing existing sites, and implementing improvements to deliver measurable performance gains.</p> <p>This is a unique fractional opportunity, ideal for experienced professionals who thrive in agile, cross-functional settings and want to make a meaningful impact across multiple brands.</p> <p>What You’ll Do</p> <p>As a Digital Marketing Specialist (Technical Design &amp; Website Build focused) embedded within Equals Five, you will:</p> <p>Lead the design, technical build, and optimisation of client websites to ensure they are fast, secure, and user-friendly.<br /> Conduct full technical site audits and health checks, identifying and prioritising issues for resolution.<br /> Optimise website performance with a focus on Core Web Vitals, page speed, and mobile responsiveness.<br /> Manage and strengthen technical SEO foundations, including site architecture, crawlability, indexing, and canonicalisation.<br /> Implement caching, minification, CDN, and other performance-enhancing methods to reduce load times.<br /> Audit, streamline, and validate code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to eliminate inefficiencies and improve maintainability.<br /> Manage, test, and troubleshoot third-party scripts, tracking tags, and analytics integrations.<br /> Optimise images, videos, and media assets for speed and accessibility without compromising quality.<br /> Ensure security and compliance standards, including SSL certificates, GDPR, accessibility (WCAG), and cookie consent.<br /> Set up and maintain CMS best practices (e.g., WordPress, Webflow, or other platforms), ensuring scalability and usability<br /> Oversee version control, staging, and deployment processes to maintain site stability and reduce downtime.<br /> Monitor site uptime, performance, and error logs, proactively addressing issues before they impact users.<br /> Provide ongoing reporting, insights, and recommendations for continuous technical and performance improvements.</p> <p>What We’re Looking For</p> <p>As a Digital Marketing Specialist our ideal candidate brings:</p> <p>Proven ability to architect, develop, and optimise technically sophisticated websites<br /> Strong knowledge of Core Web Vitals and advanced performance optimisation techniques.<br /> Proficiency with leading audit and monitoring tools (e.g., Lighthouse, Screaming Frog, GTmetrix, SEMrush, Sitebulb).<br /> Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (WordPress, Webflow, HubSpot, Shopify) and/or modern frameworks (React, Next.js).<br /> Solid knowledge of tag management and analytics tools (GTM, GA4, consent mode).<br /> Strong grasp of SEO best practices, security protocols, and compliance requirements (GDPR, accessibility standards).<br /> Ability to communicate complex technical issues in clear, actionable terms to non-technical stakeholders.<br /> A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a detail-oriented approach and passion for continuous improvement.</p> <p>Audit-Specific Expertise</p> <p>Experience conducting log file analysis to uncover crawl behaviour, indexation gaps, and technical bottlenecks.<br /> Ability to audit and optimise site architecture (URL structures, redirects, internal linking, sitemaps).<br /> Competence in auditing and implementing structured data/schema markup to support SEO and rich results.<br /> Experience running accessibility audits (WCAG compliance, screen reader testing, keyboard navigation).<br /> Understanding of server and hosting environments (DNS, HTTP/2, SSL, response codes) to diagnose server-level issues.<br /> Familiarity with version control and deployment monitoring to track changes and prevent performance regressions.<br /> Ability to perform cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistency across user experiences.</p> <p>Why Equals Five?</p> <p>At Equals Five, we’re redefining how marketing talent is deployed across modern businesses.</p> <p>As a member of our fractional team, you’ll gain:</p> <p>• Access to a diverse portfolio of high-growth clients</p> <p>• Remote, work-from-home</p> <p>• The freedom to shape your own career path with part-time, high-impact engagements</p> <p>• A collaborative network of seasoned marketing professionals across the UK</p> <p>• Opportunities to continuously grow your skills, impact, and influence</p> <p>• Competitive market related salary, R3,000- R4,000 per day based upon experience</p> <p>Application Process:</p> <p>Only those candidates that complete the online questionnaire will have their applications reviewed.</p> <p>Thereafter, any suitable candidates will be invited to interview for role.</p> <p>If you don&#8217;t hear from us within three weeks of completing our online questionnaire then unfortunately you haven&#8217;t been successful in this instance, and we wish you the very best in your future job search.</p> <p>Please note, at Equals Five we offer fractional / portfolio marketing opportunities under contract, and therefore if you are looking for a full-time, permanent role then we are not able to offer that type of opportunity at this time.</p> <p>Also be aware, our recruitment process is rigorous and typically takes between four and six weeks to complete.
