We are seeking to appoint a driven, proactive and conscientious Attendance Officer. This is an exciting opportunity allowing you to be at the heart of shaping the future success of the school.


This is a full time role starting ASAP and you will be expected to work from 8.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday.


Some of the responsibilities to be considered for this role

  • Ensure daily attendance registers are accurate and complete, and follow up with staff members about any incomplete data
  • Track attendance of vulnerable groups of pupils and share information with school leaders
  • Manage the process of issuing penalty notices to parents
  • Identify pupils that need additional support to improve their attendance
  • Work with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote the best interests of pupils, including sharing concerns where necessary
  • Produce and interpret attendance reports for school leaders, identifying key statistics, reasons for absence and any patterns of concern
  • Manage attendance returns for the school census
  • Maintain accurate records of communications with parents/carers and relevant interventions
  • Build and refresh knowledge of the school's MIS and other relevant systems


The required skills for this position are listed below:

  • Proven experience as a attendance officer or in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (essential)
  • DBS on a update service is a must or willingness to get a new one
  • Provide specific references
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations
  • Generate attendance reports on SIMS database
  • Demonstrate attention to details and interpersonal skills
