As a Roadmaster at CPKC, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for upholding the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. In this role, you will supervise a dedicated team of union employees, oversee all track operations and maintenance-of-way activities, and ensure strict adherence to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations. Your assigned territory encompasses the Laredo Subdivision, stretching from Laredo, TX to Corpus Christi, TX. This opportunity not only allows you to make a lasting impact within our organization but also offers exceptional professional growth in a dynamic and rewarding environment<br><br><strong>POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Develop and implement robust emergency response and seasonal contingency plans to proactively address and minimize service interruptions</li><li>Mentor and provide technical guidance to craft employees, supporting their skill advancement and strengthening overall team performance</li><li>Lead and manage unionized staff in accordance with the Collective Agreement, facilitating resolutions for corrective actions, disputes, and grievances to uphold positive labor relations</li><li>Ensure the successful execution of annual and multi-year capital planning objectives, optimizing resource utilization and project outcomes</li><li>Oversee engineering material management and maintain precise inventory records, ensuring all inspections are accurately captured within the Track Asset Management Systems (TAMS)</li><li>Conduct monthly territory reviews alongside Train and Engine (T&E) personnel to monitor safety compliance, operational efficiency, and workforce engagement. </li><li>Advance initiatives focused on regulatory compliance, service excellence, and sustainability of financial results</li><li>Maintain CPKC’s full compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory protocols, safeguarding standards of safety and operational integrity<br><br></li></ul><strong>POSITION REQUIREMENTS:<br><br></strong><ul><li>High school diploma or general equivalency</li><li>Valid driver’s license</li><li>Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, including two or more years directing teams or complex projects centered on track renewal and maintenance, or an equivalent mix of education and experience</li><li>Well-versed in railway track safety regulations and standards</li><li>Proficient in interpreting and implementing the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement within daily operations</li><li>Provide emergency response support as part of an on-call rotation, typically every other week, to help maintain continuous 24/7 operations<br><br></li></ul><strong>WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Flexible and competitive benefits package</li><li>Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans</li><li>Employee share purchase plan</li><li>Performance incentive plan</li><li>Annual fitness subsidy</li><li>Part-time studies program<br><br></li></ul><strong>PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:<br><br></strong><strong>Medical and Drug Testing <br><br></strong>This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required.
