THE JOB:

At MGM Resorts International, our mission is simple: to entertain the human race. Behind every iconic guest experience is a powerful data foundation. We are seeking a Principal Commercial Data Modeler to define and lead the vision for how our Marketing and Revenue Management data is structured, governed, trusted, and activated across the organization.

This is a highly influential, expert-level individual contributor role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance. You will shape how decision-ready metrics are defined, consumed, and leveraged across Marketing, Revenue Management, Loyalty, Digital, Operations, Data Science, and Analytics.

If you are passionate about building scaled semantic foundations that power personalization, revenue optimization, experimentation, and AI, this role is for you.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Define and own the Marketing and Revenue Management data modeling vision and multi-year roadmap across customer, transaction, product, marketing, and operational domains.

  • Establish and govern Marketing and Revenue Management standards for KPIs, aggregates, attribution logic, grain definitions, and time-based semantics to ensure consistency across reporting, experimentation, and AI.

  • Lead cross-domain semantic design initiatives aligning Marketing, Loyalty, Digital, Revenue Management, and Operations.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, translating modeling and semantic decisions into measurable business impact.

  • Influence cloud data platform strategy including lakehouse patterns, medallion architecture, semantic layers, feature stores, and BI/ML integrations.

  • Design governance frameworks for metric reliability including certification workflows, lineage, ownership models, versioning, and change management.

  • Ensure data models support advanced use cases such as personalization, forecasting, experimentation, fraud detection, and real-time decisioning.

  • Guide and review SQL and PySpark implementations in cloud environments, ensuring scalable, performant modeling patterns.

  • Connect analytics to activation by enabling consistent metrics across dashboards, marketing platforms, personalization engines, and downstream applications.

  • Champion adoption of trusted, decision-ready metrics to reduce fragmentation and increase enterprise confidence in insights.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 10+ years of prior relevant experience in data modeling, analytics, or related field with enterprise-level impact

  • Demonstrated organization-wide influence on data modeling and analytics strategy

  • Experience defining enterprise standards, shaping semantic layers, and establishing KPI governance frameworks

  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and PySpark, including designing and optimizing enterprise-scale pipelines

  • Deep mastery of dimensional, relational, event-based, and canonical data modeling approaches

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud lakehouse platforms such as Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog

  • Strong experience with performance optimization, large-scale transformations, and cloud cost efficiency

  • Proven ability to implement governance, validation, lineage tracking, drift monitoring, version control, and enterprise documentation best practices
