Job Summary:

The GitHub Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the GitHub Enterprise environment to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant software development practices across the organization. This role supports development teams by administering repository governance, enforcing security policies, managing user access, and optimizing platform usage. The position combines technical expertise in GitHub administration, automation, and DevOps practices with strong governance and support capabilities to maintain enterprise-grade version control infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Administration
  • Administer and maintain the GitHub Enterprise Cloud environment.
  • Manage users, teams, organizations, and repository access permissions following least-privilege principles.
  • Monitor platform health, usage metrics, performance, and storage capacity.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for repositories and configurations.

Security & Compliance
  • Enforce repository security policies including branch protection, secret scanning, and code scanning.
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments across repositories.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and respond to repository-related security incidents.
  • Implement data loss prevention and secure repository governance practices.

Access Management & Governance
  • Design repository governance frameworks, standards, and naming conventions.
  • Manage repository access workflows and approval processes.
  • Oversee third-party integrations, OAuth applications, and API access.
  • Conduct periodic access reviews and remove unnecessary permissions.
  • Maintain administrative documentation and governance guidelines.

Support & Training
  • Provide technical support to development teams on Git and GitHub related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training materials on GitHub best practices.
  • Maintain internal documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational guides.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipeline integrations.
  • Act as a liaison between development teams and GitHub support.

Automation & Optimization
  • Develop automation scripts for administrative tasks using scripting languages.
  • Implement and maintain GitHub Actions workflows for operational automation.
  • Create integrations using GitHub APIs and webhook mechanisms.
  • Optimize repository structures and development workflows for efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong experience with Git version control and GitHub platform administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing GitHub Enterprise Cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with GitHub APIs, REST APIs, and webhook integrations.
  • Knowledge of authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth, and LDAP.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions and DevOps platforms.
  • Programming knowledge in C# and TypeScript.
  • Web development familiarity with frameworks such as Angular or React.
