<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><strong>Job Title:</strong> Warehouse Shift Supervisor<br><br><strong>Department:</strong> Branch Operations<br><br><strong>Reports To:</strong> Distribution Center Manager<br><br><strong>Position Summary<br><br></strong>The Warehouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout the distribution network. This role leads in-bound and outbound shipping, cross-dock operations, inventory control, and yard management while supervising warehouse associates. The Supervisor is accountable for driving productivity, maintaining compliance, and meeting service level commitments, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><strong>Warehouse & Distribution Operations<br><br></strong><ul><li>Supervise and coordinate all warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities during assigned shifts</li><li>Oversee inbound, outbound, and cross-dock operations to meet customer and branch delivery requirements</li><li>Ensure accurate and timely picking, packing, loading, receiving, and shipment processing</li><li>Plan and manage shipping schedules, trailer flow, and dock capacity</li><li>Coordinate freight routing, including domestic and export shipments, and manage carrier relationships</li><li>Assign dock doors and direct carrier activity utilizing dock management systems</li><li>Oversee yard operations to ensure safety, organization, and efficient trailer movement<br><br></li></ul><strong>Team Leadership & Shift Management<br><br></strong><ul><li>Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and shipping/receiving associates</li><li>Assign daily work, balance labor to workload, and adjust staffing based on operational needs</li><li>Ensure effective communication and continuity across all shifts, including second and third shifts as applicable</li><li>Conduct shift-start meetings to communicate priorities, expectations, and safety initiatives</li><li>Train new hires and reinforce adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)</li><li>Address performance concerns and partner with management and HR on corrective actions<br><br></li></ul><strong>Safety, Compliance & Equipment Oversight<br><br></strong><ul><li>Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and PPE requirements</li><li>Promote a safe work environment and proactively address unsafe conditions</li><li>Oversee material handling equipment operations, including operator training, utilization, and maintenance coordination</li><li>Ensure all equipment is safe, functional, and properly used</li><li>Maintain warehouse organization and ensure availability of necessary operational supplies<br><br></li></ul><strong>Quality, Inventory & Accuracy<br><br></strong><ul><li>Ensure accuracy of shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions</li><li>Verify bills of lading (BOL), export documentation, and regulatory compliance, including U.S. Customs requirements</li><li>Conduct cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies</li><li>Implement corrective actions to reduce errors, damages, and rework<br><br></li></ul><strong>Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration<br><br></strong><ul><li>Collaborate with internal departments including manufacturing, purchasing, customer care, and branch operations</li><li>Support Customer Care with order issues, expedites, and material status inquiries</li><li>Communicate shipment status, delays, and exceptions in a timely manner<br><br></li></ul><strong>Reporting & Continuous Improvement<br><br></strong><ul><li>Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, accuracy, attendance, and safety</li><li>Complete shift reports and escalate operational issues as needed</li><li>Identify and implement process improvements aligned with departmental goals</li><li>Participate in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives</li><li>Support implementation of new systems, tools, and procedures<br><br></li></ul><strong>Professional Conduct<br><br></strong><ul><li>Uphold and promote company values, leadership principles, and code of conduct</li><li>Ensure team adherence to company policies and standards</li><li>Provide off-shift communication support as required by operational needs<br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High school diploma or GED required;
