<h1>Tax Manager</h1><p><strong>Department: </strong>Tax Preparation</p><p><strong>Employment Type: </strong>Full Time</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Remote</p><p><strong>Compensation: </strong>$120,000 - $130,000 / year</p><br><br><h3>Description</h3><div>We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Manager to help lead our tax preparation department. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax preparation, compliance, and reporting for our diverse clientele. A key focus of this role will be to manage both our internal and offshore tax preparation teams, review complex tax returns, and develop and implement best practices and efficient workflows to enhance department productivity and accuracy. The position will have one or more direct report Tax Preparers and coordinate with the offshore tax preparation team, under the direction and supervision of the President. <br><br><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong> </div><ul> <li>5-8 years of progressive experience in tax preparation and compliance, with at least 2-3 years in a management or supervisory role</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; Master’s degree in Taxation is a plus</li> <li>Advanced certification required (e.g. CPA, EA)</li> <li>Familiarity with efficiency, workflow, communication, and tax preparation software (G-Suite, CRM platforms, UltraTax, etc.)</li> <li>Proven experience managing or coordinating with offshore teams is essential</li> <li>Knowledge of corporate and personal tax planning strategies</li> <li>Additional experience in accounting, finance advisory, and/or consulting services </li> </ul><br><br><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul> <li>Directly manage and mentor a team of internal tax preparation professionals</li> <li>Oversee and coordinate the workflow, performance, and training of offshore tax preparation teams</li> <li>Forster a collaborative and high-performing environment, ensuring clear communication and seamless handoff of work between internal and offshore teams</li> <li>Manage and review the preparation of a wide range of tax returns, including federal, state, and local filings for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts</li> <li>Critically review complex tax returns and workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state tax laws</li> <li>Serve as a final point of review for returns and a technical resource for the team on complex tax issues</li> <li>Evaluate existing tax preparation workflows, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for increased efficiency and accuracy</li> <li>Leverage technology and automation to enhance the tax compliance process, from document collection to final filing</li> <li>Create training materials and lead sessions to ensure all team members are proficient in new workflows and software</li> <li>Manage and coordinate tax audits, inquiries, and correspondence with tax authorities</li> <li>Act as a technical liaison between clients, tax authorities, and internal teams</li> <li>Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure a holistic approach to client service </li> </ul><br><br><h3>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</h3><ul> <li>Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills</li> <li>Superior written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills</li> <li>Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail</li> <li>Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a high-pressure environment</li> <li>Excellent relationship management skills for clients and team members</li> <li>High ethical standard, conducts self with honesty and integrity </li> </ul><br><br><h3>Benefits</h3><ul> <li>Remote work</li> <li>Medical, dental, vision, life, and voluntary life insurance</li> <li>401(k) with company match</li> <li>Paid vacation and sick days</li> <li>Paid holidays</li> <li>Continuing education</li> <li>Teambuilding events</li> </ul>
