Job Description

The Strategic Account Director will own the commercial relationship with one of Cryovacs largest national accounts in food packaging. These accounts generate $50-100M+ in annual revenue. You negotiate contracts at the $50M+ level, hold direct P&L accountability for your accounts, and serve as the primary executive contact for customer C-suite leadership.

This role requires someone who can operate in boardroom settings with confidence, defend a position, and drive commercial outcomes. The person in this role builds and executes strategic account plans, negotiates high-value contracts, drives adoption of new packaging technologies, and holds direct accountability for account-level P&L outcomes. You are the primary executive contact for assigned accounts and the internal owner of everything tied to those customers. It is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Own executive-level relationships with C-suite and senior leadership at assigned national accounts.
  • Build and execute multi-year strategic account plans with defined revenue, margin, and growth targets.
  • Lead contract negotiations at the $50M+ level, including pricing structures, long-term agreements, and bundled equipment and materials offerings.
  • Develop stakeholder roadmaps across each customer organization.
  • Partner with R&D, marketing, and supply chain to develop packaging solutions tied to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Structure and lead cross-functional forums (e.g., case-ready summits) to align product strategy with customer needs.
  • Maintain product knowledge across a diverse packaging portfolio.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and own pipeline accuracy within CRM.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and lead on-site meetings with senior customer leadership.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership for quarterly or semi-annual strategic customer engagements.
  • Manage pricing submissions, rebate programs, and expense reporting.

Travel and Location

  • 50-70% travel. Approximately one monthly visit to corporate account locations, regular plant visits with regional sales teams, and attendance at industry trade shows.
  • Remote role with preference for Midwest (Texas to Colorado to Iowa/Nebraska/Kansas corridor) or proximity to a major airport.

Required Qualifications

  • Food packaging industry experience preferred.
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • P&L management experience with direct accountability for account-level financial outcomes.
  • Executive presence to lead C-suite conversations and boardroom-level engagements.
  • Ability to construct and understand complex deal structures, including bundled offerings.
  • Product knowledge across a diverse packaging portfolio or ability to develop it quickly.
  • Track record of growing enterprise accounts with measurable revenue and margin results.
  • Valid U.S. drivers license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise CRM platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Protein industry background with deep knowledge of the protein business and supply chain.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience managing strategic national accounts.

What Success Looks Like

  • Assigned accounts show year-over-year revenue growth and margin improvement.
  • Contracts are closed on terms that protect margin and strengthen the customer relationship.
  • New solutions and bundled offerings are adopted within defined timelines.
  • Internal stakeholders view you as the owner of the account, not a coordinator.

Why This Role

  • Direct P&L ownership of $50-100M+ national accounts.
  • C-suite access with major accounts in the food and protein packaging industry.
  • Latitude to shape account strategy, structure complex deals, and influence product direction.
  • Senior leadership actively engaged alongside you in key customer relationships.
