Renesas is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas for this position now or in the future.   </strong></p><p>We are seeking a highly motivated <strong>Staff Field Applications Engineer (Analog & Power)</strong> to join our team. This role will serve as the <strong>technical lead for power and analog solutions</strong>, supporting system-level design engagements across key customers, including <strong>pre-</strong> and <strong>post-design support</strong> activities such as schematic review, component selection, technical resource guidance, and issue resolution to help drive <strong>design-in to design-win success.</strong></p><p>The FAE will:</p><ul><li>Lead <strong>customer power architecture development</strong>, including power tree design, device selection, and system optimization</li><li>Perform <strong>technical design reviews</strong>, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debug for complex analog and power-related issues</li><li>Drive <strong>new product evaluations and competitive positioning</strong> for Renesas power and analog portfolio (PMICs, DC/DC, LDOs, battery management, signal chain)</li><li>Execute <strong>extensive hands-on lab work</strong>, including board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis</li><li>Support <strong>system-level design integration</strong>, ensuring alignment between power, processor, and connectivity subsystems</li><li>Provide direct technical guidance to customers to <strong>accelerate designs from concept to production revenue</strong></li><li>Deliver <strong>field feedback to product divisions</strong>, influencing roadmap, feature prioritization, and system solution gaps</li><li>Develop and present <strong>customer trainings, technical seminars, and internal enablement content</strong></li></ul><p>Success in this role requires the ability to translate <strong>component-level expertise into system-level solutions</strong>, while building strong, trusted relationships with customers and internal teams.</p></div></section><section class="job-section" id="st-qualifications"><div><p class="googlejobs-paragraph--empty"></p><h2 class="title">Qualifications</h2></div><div class="wysiwyg" itemprop="qualifications"><ul><li><strong>MUST BE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - PREFERRED ORANGE COUNTY (LA and San Diego included too.)</strong></li><li><strong>Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Renesas is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas for this position now or in the future.   </strong></li><li>BS Electrical Engineering (MSEE preferred)</li><li>8+ years of experience in <strong>Analog and Power Electronics (customer-facing or design role)</strong></li></ul><p><strong>To be effective in this role, this engineer is expected to:</strong></p><ul><li>Establish strong relationships with <strong>sales, FAEs, and distribution</strong>, acting as the regional expert for power/analog</li><li>Partner closely with <strong>product marketing and BU teams</strong> to drive alignment between field needs and roadmap</li><li>Lead customers through <strong>power design challenges</strong>, from architecture through debug and production readiness</li><li>Provide <strong>actionable, system-level feedback</strong> to influence new product development</li><li>Support <strong>cross-functional engagements</strong> where power is a critical system dependency (MCU/MPU, AI, connectivity platforms)</li><li>Deliver <strong>technical presentations, customer training, and design workshops</strong></li><li>Travel as needed to support key customer engagements (approx. ≤10–20%)</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Deep expertise in <strong>power conversion and management</strong>:<ul><li>Buck/boost converters, PMICs, LDOs</li><li>Power tree sequencing and optimization</li><li>Battery-powered system design (fuel gauging, charging, protection)</li></ul></li><li>Strong understanding of <strong>analog signal chain</strong>:<ul><li>Amplifiers, data converters, sensors, filtering, Noise, stability, and signal integrity considerations</li></ul></li><li>Proven experience in:<ul><li><strong>System-level power architecture design, Schematic and PCB layout review</strong>, especially for power integrity and thermal considerations, <strong>Bench characterization, validation, and debug of power systems</strong></li></ul></li><li>Ability to work across domains:<ul><li>Interaction of power with <strong>MCUs/MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, and connectivity subsystems</strong></li></ul></li><li>Hands-on lab proficiency:<ul><li>Oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal analysis, transient response measurements</li></ul></li><li>Strong communication skills:<ul><li>Capable of translating deep technical content into <strong>customer-facing solutions and value propositions</strong></li></ul></li><li>Self-driven, highly collaborative, able to <strong>own complex technical engagements end-to-end</strong></li></ul></div></section><section class="job-section" id="st-additionalInformation"><div><p class="googlejobs-paragraph--empty"></p><h2 class="title">Additional Information</h2></div><div class="wysiwyg" itemprop="incentives"><p>The expected annual pay range for this position is $134,000/yr - $175,000/yr. This position is also eligible for   bonus opportunities and commission pay.  Please note that the final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate. </p><p>Renesas offers a full range of elective benefits including medical, health savings account (with applicable medical plan), dental, vision, health and/or dependent care flexible spending accounts, pre-tax commuter benefits, life insurance, AD&D, and pet insurance.
