Together, we'll shape the future of life sciences.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>STAFF ACCOUNTANT</strong></p> <p>We are looking for a Staff Accountant to anchor our day-to-day financial operations during an exciting phase of company growth. In this role, you will own the full accounting cycle—from managing AP and invoicing to driving the month-end close and variance reporting.</p> <p>We are looking for a proactive professional who can balance high-level financial strategy with hands-on execution. You will be instrumental in establishing internal controls, maintaining our accounting principles, and serving as the key bridge between the company and our external tax and audit partners</p> <p>The ideal candidate  will be an innovative thinker with the ability to execute quickly. You are a detail-oriented, self-starter who learns quickly, is highly organized, has a strong accounting background and reconciliation skills.</p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <p><strong>General Ledger & Financial Close</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage end-to-end accounting cycles, ensuring all day-to-day general ledger functions meet month-end, quarter-end, and year-end deadlines.</li> <li>Execute monthly close procedures, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of the close checklist.</li> <li>Perform variance analyses on monthly results to ensure accuracy and provide insight into financial fluctuations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Financial Operations & Control</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the Accounts Payable (AP) process, including managing expense categorization and maintaining robust internal controls.</li> <li>Handle billing and accounts receivable by creating and submitting customer invoices on an as-needed basis.</li> <li>Monitor budget integrity by analyzing revenue and spend variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior quarters.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compliance & Strategy</strong></p> <ul> <li>Act as the primary liaison between the company and external Tax and Audit vendors to ensure seamless compliance.</li> <li>Develop and maintain accounting standards, establishing the organization’s principles, practices, and procedures to support a growing scale.</li> <li>Drive process improvements and accounting initiatives that strengthen the department’s foundational operations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be located within the US</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Business or Finance</li> <li>10+ years experience in accounts payable and general ledger accounting </li> <li>Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures</li> <li>Hands-on experience applying ASC 606 in SaaS environment (contract review, revenue schedules, deferred revenue, etc) </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to partner with ops / deal desk on contract interpretation </li> <li>Ability to work directly with a CFO</li> <li>General knowledge of transactional accounting: AP, AR, payroll, etc.</li> <li>Thorough understanding of audit support requirements (including approvals) for transaction processing</li> <li>Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines</li> <li>Proven ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and make sound judgments</li> <li>Confidence to ask questions. You will be an active contributor and business problem solver. </li> <li>Demonstrated experience with Maxio</li> <li>Excellent planning, analytical and interpersonal skills</li> <li>QBO certified</li> </ul> <p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS</strong></p> <ul> <li>2 years' experience working in an early startup business preferred</li> <li>Effective team player and collaborator, working across Commercial, Product and Engineering business lines.</li> <li>Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and processes as it relates to accounting and financial matters.</li> </ul> <p><strong>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS</strong><strong><br></strong>Sorcero is a remote and globally distributed team.
