Responsibilities

This position is part of a team whose primarily responsibility is to improve the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation in the medical record. This individual will facilitate improvement through interaction with physicians and other members of the health care team to achieve clinical documentation that best reflect the patient's clinical status and reflective of the care provided. This position will also serve as an educational resource for all members of the health care team on an ongoing basis on issues related to clinical documentation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR Associate of Science in Nursing with Bachelor of Science in a comparable field OR Associate of Science in Nursing with a minimum of two years experience in a JA Thomas Clinical Documentation Improvement program.
  • Current RN license in Georgia.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in nursing in an acute care setting through direct patient care, utilization review, case management or quality review with passing score on clinical competency assessment.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of personnel (treating physicians, nurses, CDISs, case managers, quality staff, and coders).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience in CQI concepts and tools and techniques.
  • Ability to interact with numerous facilities and departments.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

8:00-4:30
