🌟 Band 3 Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship (Internal Opportunity) 🌟

Podiatry (West) are excited to offer an internal development opportunity for eligible staff to apply for the BSc (Hons) Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with the University of Plymouth 🎓.

This is a full‑time, 36‑month apprenticeship, combining academic learning with practical, hands‑on clinical experience. On successful completion, you will achieve a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and be eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a qualified Allied Health Professional (Podiatrist) .


👣 About the Role

As a Podiatry Apprentice, you will develop the clinical knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required to practise safely and effectively as a Podiatrist.

You will:

  • 📚 Combine academic study with workplace learning
  • 📈 Grow in responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop
  • 🤝 Be supported by experienced clinicians throughout your journey

Your role will evolve in line with your learning and progress through the apprenticeship.

Entry Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • 🇬🇧 Lawfully resident in the UK for the past 3 years
  • Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the apprenticeship
  • 🚫 Not undertaking any other government‑funded training programme
  • 🏥 Be a permanent NELFT employee and have completed probation
  • Be working a minimum of 30 hours per week for NELFT
  • 👟 Experience as a Podiatry Assistant, Podiatry Care Support Worker or in a similar health support role
  • 📘 Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in English, Maths, and a Science (grade C/4 or equivalent)
  • 📗 Evidence of a Level 3 qualification (A‑levels, NVQ Level 3, Access course, or equivalent)
  • 🎓 Hold a first degree from a recognised higher education institution
  • Have completed the Care Certificate
  • 📖 Evidence of recent academic study (within the last 5 years)
  • 🧠 Demonstrate a good understanding of the podiatry profession across different care settings

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital, Ilford.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).


High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
