Description:

  • Determine PCB layer stackup, component package selection, placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing across digital, analog, RF, and power conversion circuits.
  • Create and maintain PCB libraries and related configuration materials.
  • Prepare and release fabrication documentation for printed circuit boards.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, internal teams, and PCB vendors to refine design rules, constraints, and design-for-test and manufacturability guidelines.
  • Use PCB design tools, evaluate new tools, and train team members on their use.
  • Partner closely with Hardware Development Engineers during schematic development and design reviews.
  • Iterate board layouts to deliver effective solutions for a range of designs, including phased arrays and solar power converters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 1+ years of professional PCB layout experience, or 3+ years of professional PCB layout experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience with PCB layout and routing in modern passive and active electronics, surface-mount, RF components, ball-grid array, fine-pitch, or other high pin-density components.
  • 1+ years of experience with ECAD libraries and library configuration management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test.
  • Experience with Mentor Xpedition and/or Altium Designer, with Mentor Xpedition preferred.
  • Experience with mixed analog and digital layouts, high-speed buses, FPGA, DRAM, CPU, power supplies, DC-DC converters, transmission lines, impedance-controlled traces, and power traces.
  • Experience with MIL-STD, commercial, and IPC standards and design.
  • Experience monitoring industry-wide parts.
  • Ability to visualize component placement and interconnectivity.
  • Experience with scripting and automation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise be eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorization.
