About the position

In this high-impact Marketplaces Strategic Sales Manager role, you will partner closely with the Director of Pricing and Marketplaces to execute marketplace strategy and drive revenue growth and strong performance across third-party marketplace channels. You’ll own marketplace performance outcomes (sales, profitability, and the levers that drive them). This is a player-coach role—you’ll personally execute high-impact work (performance analysis, prioritization, and key optimizations) while leading the team and aligning cross-functional partners around clear goals. You’ll run the performance operating rhythm (weekly/monthly business reviews, KPI dashboards, and priority setting) and make day-to-day performance decisions within agreed guardrails. You’ll partner with the Director on budgets, major investment shifts, and big strategic tradeoffs. This role blends strategic channel execution, data-driven decision-making, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize sales and profitability across major marketplaces. You translate strategy into a clear plan—what we’re optimizing, where we’re investing, and what “good” looks like—then you drive action and accountability across the business. You directly manage the Marketplaces Visibility Manager and partner with Marketplaces Operations so fulfillment execution supports marketplace goals. If you love owning performance, turning insights into decisions, and rallying a team around measurable results, you’ll feel right at home here.

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting for eBay, Amazon, and Walmart.com.
  • Analyze sales performance, profitability, and key drivers to inform prioritization, highlight risks and opportunities, and support decision-making with the Director of Pricing and Marketplaces.
  • Lead execution of strategic initiatives designed to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and expand product presence across marketplace channels in alignment with broader marketplace strategy.
  • Translate revenue targets, budgets, and ROAS expectations into advertising objectives, investment direction, and success metrics, partnering closely with the Visibility Manager to ensure execution aligns with commercial goals and guardrails.
  • Oversee execution of fulfillment strategies across a variety of models including FBA, FBM, and hybrid approaches, ensuring alignment with inventory, cost considerations, and business priorities as they impact marketplace performance (speed, cost-to-serve, and seller/account health metrics) in coordination with the operations team who owns operational execution and day‑to‑day fulfillment processes.
  • Directly supervise the Visibility Manager. Provide clear goals, strategic context, coaching, and performance feedback while enabling functional ownership of visibility strategy and execution.
  • Monitor competitor activity, platform algorithm changes, category trends, and customer behavior to surface insights, risks, and opportunities for discussion and action.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports (including KPI definitions and a clear weekly/monthly cadence) to provide clear visibility into marketplace performance for stakeholders and support crisp, action‑oriented performance narratives.
  • Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize team member workflow, while continuing to meet our customers’ needs.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and flexibility to take on additional tasks as business needs evolve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience owning marketplace performance in e-commerce marketplaces, with a strong focus on driving sales and growth on Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.com (including hands-on execution and ongoing optimization).
  • Hands-on experience with ChannelAdvisor or similar marketplace management platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of marketplace advertising platforms and listing optimization best practices (including SEO, keyword strategy, A+ Content, enhanced brand content, and conversion rate optimization).
  • Strong understanding of various fulfillment models (FBA, FBM, WFS, dropshipping, etc.) and their impact on profitability, operations, and customer experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including successfully managing and developing direct reports and setting clear goals, accountability, and performance expectations (experience overseeing SEM, visibility, or performance marketing roles is highly desirable).
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and performance reporting, including Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and marketplace analytics tools.
  • Proven ability to partner with Pricing, Operations, and Supply Chain to make data-informed tradeoff decisions (growth vs. ROAS efficiency vs. fulfillment/inventory cost) and translate them into clear marketplace plans and priorities.
  • Comfort operating with imperfect data—forming hypotheses, running structured tests (pricing, promotions, ads, content), and driving change through dashboards, reporting cadences, and scalable workflows; experience in automotive/aftermarket or long-tail catalogs where fitment/listing health impacts conversion and returns is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly to senior leadership.
  • Results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, ownership-driven approach (anticipates issues, proposes solutions, and drives follow-through) in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
