Job Title: Logistics Coordinator I

Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the efficient and accurate coordination and communication between traffic and shipping/receiving. The scope of the position includes specialized warehouse tasks that include labeling, document creation and organization, data entry, order processing and the ability to serve and communicate effectively within all departments. They must encourage process improvement in self and others.

Responsibilities and Functions:
  • Responsible for planning utilization of shipping/receiving schedules to meet the customer requirements on a daily/weekly basis based on priority.
  • Responsible for understanding customer requirements and maintaining a master schedule pertaining to shipping/receiving daily/weekly activities.
  • Directly responsible for problem solving and communicating with Warehouse Manager with any shipping issues for both domestic and international shipments.
  • Identifies opportunities to consolidate shipments to reduce freight expenses and optimize gross weight and cube of all carrier modes.
  • Books transfer containers or trucks as required for sales orders in outside warehouses.
  • Schedules appointments with outbound and inbound carriers and creating and updating a master traffic schedule by week.
  • Prints and distributes Pick Slips to the warehouse for picking and shipping purposes.
  • Creates the Packing Slips, Bill of Ladings, Labels, and other related shipping documents for outbound shipments.
  • Highlights and/or notes all work order comments associated with meeting a customer requirement.
  • Coordinates warehouse inspections when requested.
  • Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of the shipping/receiving activities.
  • Works in a cooperative manner with all employees.
  • Performs any task or duty associated with accurately shipping a work order out on time.
  • Receives, counts and records shipment data into the system.
  • Matches packing list information to actual packed merchandise.
  • Identifies incorrect/short-shipped items and immediately notify Customer Service coordinator.
  • May use electronic identification tools, scanners, stamps, tags, or other labeling equipment.
  • Uses a computer and peripherals for company related email, warehouse, and customer service functions.
  • A key player in the company’s efforts to have a “high order fulfillment rating”.
  • Responsible for working with the warehouse to coordinate the next day’s shipments.
  • Completes trainings and attends Company meetings as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction.
  • Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from manager. Deviations from the norm are cleared by Manager.
  • Exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a co-worker or supervisor.
  • Attention to detail, good follow-through and organizational skills are paramount.
  • Excellent communication skills are imperative to ensure quality & efficiency with external and internal customers.

  • Liaison with operations addressing complaints, questionnaires, and documentation.
  • General understanding of Windows based computer systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Touch type and 10-key data entry capabilities.
  • Basic understanding of EDI.
  • NetSuite experience preferred.
  • PaceJet experience preferred.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in areas of responsibility.

  • Ensures clear and timely communication within department and with other departments to maximize quality, productivity and minimize down time.
  • Acts as a problem solver and team player.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
