Job Description

I. OVERVIEW

Join our dynamic team as a Loan Officer Assistant, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting the loan origination process and ensuring smooth mortgage transactions. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and people-focused Loan Partner/ loan officer assistant to support a growing residential mortgage loan officer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structure, communication, and helping guide clients through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. You will work directly alongside the Loan Officer and become a key part of managing active loan files from contract to closing.

II. EXPECTATIONS

  • Assist loan officers with preparing and reviewing loan applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate
  • Support the loan processing team by verifying borrower information, conducting credit analysis, and coordinating with escrow and underwriting departments
  • Manage loan origination tasks using financial software such as Quicken or other mortgage servicing platforms
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather required information while providing exceptional customer service throughout the loan process
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations, TILA (Truth in Lending Act), FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines, and other relevant federal laws
  • Perform basic math calculations for loan qualification, debt-to-income ratios, and payment estimates using 10-key typing skills and accounting software
  • Maintain organized records of contracts, escrow documents, and loan files while adhering to confidentiality standards

III. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Preferred not required: Prior experience in mortgage lending, financial sales, or loan officer support is highly preferred
  • Preferred not required: Knowledge of FNMA guidelines, TILA regulations, Fair Housing laws, and mortgage servicing procedures
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to clients
  • Extremely organized and detail-driven
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Positive, calm, and professional under pressure
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Willing to learn and grow within the mortgage industry
  • ⁠Dominates English and Spanish (verbally and in writing)

Schedule:

Primarily in-office (Monday – Friday, approx. 9:00 AM – 5:30/6:00 PM)

Occasional flexibility may be available after training period; however, this role involves mostly in-office work.

Training & Growth:

This position includes hands-on mentorship and training. The Loan Officer Assistant will work closely with the Loan Officer daily to learn loan structuring, client communication, and pipeline management. There is strong opportunity for long-term career growth within the mortgage field.
