Lead Product Designer, ExtraCash

Other Jobs To Apply

Dave vs. Goliath. We’re Dave.

Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 in short-term advances within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.

Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.

We’re hiring a Lead Product Designer to help take new ideas from zero to real features and products in members’ hands.

The opportunity

You’ll lead design for new products and feature iterations, turning ambiguous problems and emerging opportunities into clear, shippable experiences. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Growth to explore ideas, define direction, and launch products that can scale to millions of members.

No direct reports—but real leadership, real influence, and real responsibility for what gets built.

What you’ll build and own
  • End-to-end design for new products and foundational features, from early exploration and concepting through launch and iteration

  • Discovery work that helps teams identify the right problems to solve—framing opportunities, testing assumptions, and shaping product direction early

  • Design direction for new initiatives with the potential to become major product lines

  • Experiences that balance speed, clarity, and trust, especially in moments where members are making important financial decisions

  • Product strategy alongside Product and Engineering, contributing to goals, success metrics, roadmaps, and sprint commitments

  • Clear design narratives that help cross-functional teams align, make trade-offs, and move forward with confidence

  • Mentorship and craft guidance for other designers, helping raise the bar for early-stage thinking and execution

The impact

You’ll help define Dave’s future product portfolio. The work you lead will determine which ideas make it to market, how members experience them for the first time, and which products earn trust and long-term adoption. Your decisions will shape both member outcomes and Dave’s next phase of growth.

What we’re looking for

Experience and skills

  • 8+ years of product design experience in fintech or other scaled consumer product environments

  • Strong experience taking products or major features from idea to launch

  • A portfolio that demonstrates 0 → 1 thinking, strong craft, and the ability to evolve ideas over time

  • Deep expertise in mobile app design

  • Strong visual design sensibility paired with practical UX judgment

  • Fluency in Figma and modern design workflows

  • Clear, confident communication with Product, Engineering, Research, and other cross-functional partners

Bonus

  • Experience designing financial products with ongoing member relationships (credit, banking, subscriptions, or similar)

  • Exposure to products serving gig workers or people with non-traditional income

Please note: a portfolio site or link that our Design Team can review is required for your application to be considered

What makes someone successful here

You’re comfortable starting from a blank page. You know how to turn ambiguity into structure, ask the right questions early, and help teams converge on the best direction. You connect design decisions to strategy and outcomes, not just aesthetics.

You lead through influence. You collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, communicate clearly, and help teams make thoughtful trade-offs as constraints and data evolve. You raise the quality of the work around you through feedback, mentorship, and strong design judgment.

What to expect

You’ll have wide scope, early ownership, and the chance to shape products before they’re fully defined. We move quickly, learn fast, and iterate based on what we see in the real world. If you’re excited by 0 → 1 work, autonomy, and building products that materially improve people’s financial lives, this role is for you.

Why join Dave
  • Build new products from the ground up for millions of members

  • Shape the future of financial access at a profitable, growing public fintech

  • Partner with strong product, engineering, and research teams who value design

  • Grow as a senior IC with room to expand scope over time

  • Competitive compensation, meaningful equity, comprehensive benefits, and flexible PTO
