We foster an open, friendly work environment and show up for one another every day.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role: </strong>HR Specialist</p><p><strong>Reports to: </strong>HR Director </p><p><strong>FLSA: </strong>Non-Exempt</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Remote – Northwest Suburbs/Chicagoland Area - Illinois</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Why this role is important at Genesee Scientific? </strong></p><p>The HR Specialist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function, ensuring accuracy, organization, and positive employee experience. This role provides administrative support across HR processes, including payroll, employee data, reporting, recruiting coordination, onboarding, and general HR operations<strong>.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>What will you do: </strong></p><p><strong>HR Operations & Administration</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain accurate employee records and update HRIS data </li><li>Ensure proper recordkeeping and confidentiality standards are followed </li><li>Organize HR files and support document management </li><li>Assist with updates to HR documents, including company policies </li></ul><p><strong>Reporting & Data Support</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare routine HR reports (headcount, turnover, etc.) </li><li>Assist with gathering documentation for audits </li><li>Maintain organized HR data and update organizational charts as needed </li></ul><p><strong>Compliance Support</strong></p><ul><li>Assist with tracking employee training and certifications </li><li>Maintain I-9 documentation and support file audits </li><li>Ensure labor law postings are current </li></ul><p><strong>Onboarding Coordination</strong></p><ul><li>Assist with onboarding logistics and new hire documentation </li><li>Maintain onboarding materials and ensure a smooth new hire experience </li></ul><p><strong>Payroll & Benefits Coordination</strong></p><ul><li>Is the primary contact with Paylocity to manage employee data and payroll processes</li><li>Responsible for payroll activities in partnership with Paylocity to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time  </li><li>Assist with payroll audits and employee inquires </li><li>Provide administrative support for benefits and open enrollment </li><li>Track leave of absence, workers’ compensation and OSHA documentation </li></ul><p><strong>General Administrative Support</strong></p><ul><li>Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR-related activities </li><li>Prepare basic HR documentation and correspondence </li><li>Support special projects and assist with updating job descriptions</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements: </strong> </p><p><strong>Perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:</strong> </p><ul><li>Primarily sedentary work </li><li>Regularly required to sit for extended periods </li><li>Occasional standing and walking within the office area </li></ul><p>Requirements</p><p><strong>What you will bring:</strong></p><ul><li>Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience</li><li>3+ years of Human Resources experience, including benefits, payroll, or HR administrative support preferred</li><li>Experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Paylocity, ADP, or Workday preferred</li><li>Experience supporting onboarding, employee documentation, and HR operations preferred</li><li>Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills with high attention to detail</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable demeanor</li><li>Ability to handle confidential information with discretion</li><li>Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced remote environment</li><li>Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently</li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams</li></ul><p><strong>At Genesee Scientific, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
