Position Title: Health Program Specialist I

Location: On-site (Carson City, NV)

Position End Date: 9/30/2026

Salary: $50,000-$58,349.46 annually with benefits

 

Overview:

 

The CDC Foundation is seeking a Health Program Specialist I who will possess a background in health program coordination, including grants management, providing technical information related to specific health conditions, provide support to various workgroups and committees and utilize these skills to help sub-recipients, state, and external partners working to improve health for Nevadans through various federal grants.

In this role, the Health Program Specialist I will oversee health programs associated with the Nevada State Opioid Response (SOR) Program, housed within the Bureau of Behavioral Health Wellness and Prevention. This discretionary grant supports statewide efforts in the prevention, treatment, and recovery of opioid and stimulant use disorders. The position collaborates closely with a wide range of stakeholders and community partners to advance program goals and strengthen service delivery across Nevada.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field application to the program area

· Two years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas:

o Researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures

o Providing health education services to target groups of the general public

o Evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet agency, federal or other standards and guidelines

o Providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions

· OR one year of experience as a Health Program Specialist I in Nevada State service

· OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 

Responsibilities:

· Assist with identifying training needs by evaluating grant subrecipient strengths and weaknesses. Assist with designing and delivering health program training and evaluating their effectiveness.

 

· Assist with the creation of instructional materials, enhance grant subrecipient skills, and ensure growth of the health program. Development of training sessions to improve workplace performance.

 

· Provide technical assistance to providers to ensure program activities comply with established regulations, policies, procedures, and program parameters.

·

· Develop objectives, protocols and procedures for assigned health program areas; establish performance indicators and benchmarks to evaluate program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes.

 

· Develop quality assurance measures to ensure adherence to federal, agency, or other standards and guidelines; establish grant program eligibility requirements and approve program participation and reimbursement for services as required.

 

· Perform analytical work specifically related to the collection and analysis of data, identification of trends and preparation of statistical, mid-year, and annual reports and the development, implementation and evaluation of the programs to which assigned.

· Research, collect and analyze health data and statistics; identify health issues, trends and prevalence of specific diseases and conditions; assess community, regional and statewide needs and resources

· Develop recommendations for program development and expansion, resource allocation and interventions for at-risk populations. This is inclusive of additional resource allocation, such as federal grant opportunities, non-competing continuances, and competitive notice of funding opportunities.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Nevada Department of Services, in order to best support the State of Nevada in their public health programming.

This position is currently an on-site position.
