JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, this position provides clerical support for the activities of the Financial Aid Office. Duties include assisting students and parents through the financial aid application process, assisting students to navigate their student account, data entry, and answer the phones. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answers incoming telephone calls and responds to telephone and email inquiries; Accepts and reviews incoming student financial aid documents. Monitors walk-in traffic ensuring that students and parents are assisted effectively. Maintains a general knowledge of Student Success Division services in support of servicing students. Supports all activities of the Financial Aid Office and other offices as necessary. Assists student and parents with the financial aid application and other inquiries. Assists student on how to navigate through their student account; Enters and updates documents and other information in the computer as required. Distributes financial aid and scholarship information. Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or the equivalent; Associate's degree preferred; Minimum one (1) year documented work experience in the area of customer service. Demonstrated commitment to supporting student success; Capable of effectively working with a diverse student population. Ability to use sound judgment and discretion while interacting with students and the general public; Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications; Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette. Detailed oriented and ability to maintain strict accuracy. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation; Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at once PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College. ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
