Early Childhood Teacher Assistant (School year 26/27) – Job Description

The main focus of the position is to support the Early Childhood teacher in his/her work and help maintain the class environment while caring for the children; to help create a warm supportive atmosphere, and the physical care of the classroom, consistent with the best practices in Waldorf Early Childhood Education.

Hours: 8:00 am to 1:45 pm

Responsibilities include:

  • Be familiar with classroom setup and daily rhythm.
  • Help with the daily preparation of room materials and activities, and prepare the morning snack.
  • Tend to domestic tasks of cleaning, cooking, organizing, and beautifying the room.
  • Share artistic activities of coloring, beeswax, crafting, and painting, with the lead teacher.
  • Work with the children on craft and domestic activities, support the listening skills in story-time, and be actively engaged with the content of circle-time, learning the songs and gestures. Singing and imitation of the teacher and leading singing.
  • Supervise the children in the playground or during walks.
  • Take care of children needing comfort and first aid.
  • Watch the children grow and contribute to their development.
  • Guide children in their play.
  • Be in charge of cleaning and sanitizing the dishes at the end of the day
  • Participate in Parent Evenings, Festivals, Open Houses, and occasional attendance at parent conferences if necessary.
  • Be prepared to attend training courses as necessary for work.
  • Be an appropriate role model for the children and parents.
  • Work within the principles of Waldorf Early Childhood education.
  • Assist children while in the bathroom if needed.

Requirements:

  • Complete and pass the Florida background check.
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid training recommended.
  • Attend an Introduction to Waldorf Early Childhood Education course is recommended.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
