Come be a part of what’s next.</p><p><b>Role Overview</b></p><p><span>The Billing Platform team at Netflix owns subscription management, invoice lifecycle, tax computation, gift cards, and discounts for Netflix’s 325M+ subscribers worldwide. We design and operate highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems that ensure accurate, compliant billing at global scale.</span></p><p></p><p><span>Our team is composed of stunning colleagues who take end-to-end ownership and collaborate closely with product, finance, legal, and engineering partners to deliver simple, reliable billing experiences for our members.</span></p><p></p><p><span>Current areas of investment include:</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Building Netflix’s real-time tax calculation platform that powers all business lines, including Consumer, Ads, and Partnerships.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Redesigning and modernizing our invoicing systems to create a more intuitive, transparent experience for members, streamline data contracts with partners, and evolve our data model to better support our Commerce needs.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>We are looking for a strong engineer to join our mission to power Netflix’s global growth through robust, compliant billing systems.</span></p><p></p><p><b>Who you are</b></p><ul><li><p><span>You have a background and interest in building billing systems and/or tax platforms, preferably for business-to-consumer scenarios</span></p></li><li><p><span>You have experience designing and developing highly reliable, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems in a cloud environment using Java, Spring Boot, or equivalent technologies.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You have experience with NoSQL and SQL multi-region databases such as Cassandra and Aurora Postgres.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You enjoy collaboration and can effectively build strong relationships with cross-functional teams.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You are open-minded and value different perspectives.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable defining requirements with stakeholders and iterating.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You demonstrate a high degree of ownership and accountability, managing multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You’re pragmatic and thoughtful, considering tradeoffs and making technical decisions based on business goals.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You possess a growth mindset and a continuous drive to learn, evaluate, and adapt to new and evolving technologies.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You are a strong team player who genuinely cares about systems excellence, and no task is too small for you.</span></p></li><li><p><span>You understand finance compliance, including audit and SOX requirements, and help ensure accurate billing and adherence to regulatory standards.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Nice to have</b></p><ul><li><p><span>Experience with event-driven architecture and workflow orchestration frameworks.</span></p></li><li><p><span>BS degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field with 6+ years of experience.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with tax engines such as Vertex.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with 24/7 on-call and resolving production issues independently.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Spark and Flink.</span></p></li></ul><p> </p>Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $388,000.00 - $619,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.<p></p><p>Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off.
