Summary

Vivint Smart Home is hiring a Principal Product Manager to own the end-to-end device connectivity experience across our product ecosystem. This role is responsible for how Vivint devices connect to a customer’s home network and how they stay connected over time. Connectivity is foundational to product performance, installation quality, and long-term customer trust. This leader will define and evolve the strategy for reliable, scalable connectivity across our devices, ensuring experiences are simple, resilient, and built for the realities of the home environment.

You will be accountable for setting the long-term direction for connectivity, building alignment across teams, and delivering measurable improvements in connection success, reliability, and recovery. This is a role for a product leader who can move comfortably between strategy and execution and who can take ownership of a technically complex, high-impact problem space.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for how Vivint devices connect to customer networks and maintain reliable connectivity over time.
  • Define the customer and system experience across onboarding, authentication, provisioning, reconnection, and long-term network resilience.
  • Partner deeply with hardware, platform, mobile, and cloud teams to shape connectivity architecture and deliver reliable experiences across the device portfolio.
  • Drive prioritization and tradeoff decisions across protocols, performance, diagnostics, and recovery flows to improve connection success and reduce field issues.
  • Establish and manage core connectivity metrics, including pairing success, time to connect, disconnect rate, reconnection success, and long-term device stability.
  • Lead cross-functional delivery from concept through launch and iteration, aligning stakeholders around a clear vision for dependable device connectivity.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of technically complex products or platform capabilities.
  • Strong experience working with hardware teams and building products where device performance and connectivity are core to the customer experience.
  • Familiarity with connectivity protocols and standards such as Z-Wave, Wi‑Fi, Matter, Bluetooth, or similar technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams across product, engineering, design, QA, hardware, and platform organizations.
  • Strong systems thinking and product judgment, with the ability to turn technical complexity into clear priorities and customer-facing outcomes.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort defining reliability metrics, diagnosing failure patterns, and using data to guide iteration.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across teams while driving alignment in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
