Responsibilities

Spirit Airlines is looking for a Material Logistics Specialist to join their Material Operations team.  To be successful in this role candidates should possess material handling experience in a warehouse setting, must be comfortable with computers, and general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication. In this role, the individual will be responsible for processing aircraft parts requests and logistics movements to support the Technical Operations team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing shipping, receiving, and stocking of materials as well as maintaining accurate stock levels to guarantee materials availability needed for maintenance events. Perform shipping, receiving, and stocking of materials. Maintain accurate stock levels to guarantee materials availability needed for maintenance events to avoid service disruptions by aircraft being out of service due to parts shortages. Responsible for preparing dangerous goods declarations, pack dangerous goods shipments and tender dangerous goods for 3rd party transport on Spirit Airlines behalf. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-driven, and reliable. Candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. Most importantly, the Material Logistics Specialist should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of others.

 

Starting Pay: $18.00/hr

  • Prepare dangerous goods declaration for outbound shipment.
  • Complete dangerous goods outbound shipment checklists.
  • Pull parts and tools for transfer orders or pick list for maintenance line support.
  • Receive and stock materials and tools.
  • Pull, pack, and ship materials and tools for transfer via internal shipping.
  • Pull, pack, and ship materials and tools via third-party shipping.
  • Identify and handle hazardous materials.
  • Perform Daily Material Cycle Counts.
  • Warehouse and stockrooms housekeeping
  • Monitor Service level and tool calibration dates
  • Monitor computers to generate reports and email correspondences.
  • Greet and assist visitors (internal and external)
  • Use of an inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments, and stock levels.
  • Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages. Communicates with Materials team members to meet business goals.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Must adhere to safety precautions when operating a forklift or hand pallet jack.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergency change in workload, rush jobs, or technical developments.)

Qualifications

  • High School or GED certification
  • Must Be 18 Years or Older
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to read, send, and execute instructions via email and memos.
  • Proficient with computers, basic knowledge of word editing software, inventory sheets, and email management.
  • Warehouse Operations Knowledge, and experience with shipping, receiving, and stocking practices.
  • Ability to carry out several assignments at the same time and deliver positive results.
  • Ability to adjust to continuous change, ability to shift focus to new tasks while keeping productivity and without losing sight of general goals.
  • Detail Oriented, able to produce accurate work to avoid unnecessary reproduction.
  • Self-initiated, able to complete needed work and/or identify areas that require work.
  • Dependable, completes all assigned tasks, and maintains good attendance.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand during extended periods.
  • Able to endure temperature changes and outside work.
  • Domestic and international travel under 10%.
  • Must be present at the worksite 100% of the time.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 2+ years in a warehouse environment.
  • Inventory background experience.
  • Aviation Materials Knowledge, familiar with parts numbers, descriptions and handling.
  • Hazardous Materials Shipping and Handling, knowledge of HAZCOM and general shipping procedures.
  • Forklift driving experience.
